Introduction

The Kingston and St. Andrew Association of Branch Societies/Jamaica Agricultural Society collaborates with Jamaica 4H Clubs on an annual basis to coordinate this competition as one of its major events of the annual Agricultural and Industrial Show, staged in collaboration with RADA St. Andrew.

Date of Show

May 30, 2015 - at the Jamaica College Grounds, 189 Old Hope Road

Awards

The competitors will be competing for a cash prize among other sectional prizes. All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation. The top three contestants will be expected to present their winning piece at the Show prior to being presented with their prizes.

Theme

Praedial Larceny – a serious deterrent to the ‘Grow What We Eat, Eat What We Grow” Campaign

The need for awareness raising and sensitization on the matter of praedial theft has been recognized and discussed on several occasions, especially with the re-launch of the Praedial Larceny Prevention Unit. It is against this background that this theme has been selected.

In no more than 1200 words, using the theme outlined above prepare an essay that will be presented before a panel of judges at this Show.

Rules
  1. The competition is only open to 4H Clubites within Kingston and St. Andrew. The schools will be expected to vouch safe this requirement by supplying the full details of participating students as provided for in the invitation letter.
  2. Should be a Jamaican citizen.
  3. Preliminary judging will take place prior to the Show and final judging and presentation at the Parish Show.
  4. The ABS will be responsible for prizes and awards.
  5. All prizes awarded to contestants must be taken up within the time specified.
  6. The judges’ decisions are final at all levels.
